Taking the photo

The reading is only as good as the photo. It takes about a minute, and we tell you straight away whether yours will work.

Use your dominant hand — the one you write with.
Open your palm flat and hold the camera straight above it.
Even, indirect daylight. Avoid direct sun and hard shadows.
Fill most of the frame with your palm, and keep it in focus.
Take off rings or bracelets that cross your palm.
